It is no ordinary feat for a club in a small village tucked away in North-West Gloucestershire to reach 150 years of age but Redmarley Cricket Club, Founded 1874, will be doing exactly that this summer as we finally get to take to the field after several weather inflicted delays.
We will rightly be marking this anniversary at several points along the season, with a focus on the final week of July and beginning of August, but just as important as celebrating the past is the focus on the present, and future, of the club this summer.
The 1st XI will return to action this weekend in GCCL Division 2, opening the season with a road trip to newcomers Tetbury, while the 2nd XI take on Huntley in the CGF Division 1 West Opener. We will field a midweek XI in the Gloucester Evening Cricket League over the first 10 Wednesdays of the summer.
We look to build on a hugely encouraging 2023 with our junior sides - with Under 11 and Under 15 teams entered in the Leadon Vale Youth Cricket League - and from 10th May we will again be running the hugely popular All Stars Cricket programme for 5-8 year olds.
The centrepiece of our Anniversary Events will take place between 25th July and 4th August with several events and cricket matches planned to celebrate the clubs rich and deep history, and we will continue to push out more details as we the summer progresses, with two events in particular to highlight at this stage.
And finally, we are delighted that this summer we will be hosting the following representative cricket at Playley Green in this very special summer.
We hope to see you all many times over this landmark, and hopefully warm and dry summer!
